DESCRIPTION:Transforming our food systems for sustainability and resilience is pertinent and urgent to achieve our EU Green Deal goals. The food system is highly complex\, characterised by uncertainty\, multiple drivers\, impacts and interconnected sectors\, requiring trade-offs. Acting simultaneously on many fronts is the only key to success. This is why we need a systems approach to understand the challenges and to target transformational change through a coherent set of policies\, initiatives\, and investments. The role of Research and Innovation (R&I) policy has finally been recognised as key to unravelling the complexities and catalysing solutions. \nIn 2016\, DG Research & Innovation launched the Food 2030 initiative\, which set out an ambitious and impact-driven R&I policy framework for sustainable food systems\, that is being deployed via Horizon Europe. \nOn 4 and 5 of December 2023\, the European Commission will organise a conference in Brussels entitled “Food 2030: green and resilient food systems” to showcase achievements of EU food systems related projects\, explore future research and innovation orientations and levers of change. The EC aims to convene a wide range of actors and policy makers for this in-person event\, which will also be web streamed and recorded for those unable to travel.

DESCRIPTION:JOIN THIS IMPORTANT NETWORKING EVENT IN BRUSSELS ON 25 SEPTEMBER 2023 \nClick here to view and download the event programme \nThis cross-border pitching\, matchmaking and networking event brings together the networks of eight innovation platforms: Pilots4U\, Bio Base Connect\, The ProteInn Club\, BioeconomyVentures\, Planet B.io\, ShapingBio\, Waste2Func and Tech4Biowaste. \nAs such\, we can guarantee a diverse audience ranging from SMEs\, start-ups\, scale-ups\, large companies/corporations\, investors\, research organisations\, technology providers to organisations offering relevant innovation services such as access to finance\, scale-up trials\, application testing\, business plan writing\, feedstock analysis\, life cycle assessment\, social acceptance\, etc. \nPitching & Call for Pitch Abstracts \nParticipants are invited to submit an abstract for a 7-minute pitch. As we are organising 9 pitch sessions of 90 minutes each\, we are looking for at least 99 inspiring pitches. The event will bring together scientists\, experts\, policymakers\, industry representatives\, youth and other stakeholders from across Europe to share experiences\, discuss challenges\, and identify opportunities for advancing the bioeconomy transformation and contributing to the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. \nGreen Event\n\n\nThe EBSF2023 is organised according to the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Meetings and Green Events. Many visible and many invisible measures will be implemented before\, during and after the event. The participants are warmly invited to endorse these efforts and support the organisers! \n\n\n

This large joint event shows what is being researched in Leipzig\, what scientists are thinking about and what researchers have found out. And it shows the solidarity of Leipzig’s science institutions\, which all contribute together to its success with their ideas\, projects and also financial resources. The event is promoted and supported by Leipzig companies such as the Leipziger Gruppe and Sparkasse Leipzig. The Leipzig Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer plays a major role in the realisation of the Long Nights of Science Leipzig.
