PHENOLEXA project partner Loughborough University achieves breakthrough in polyphenol research, published in the Royal Society of Chemistry
We are delighted to announce a major scientific breakthrough by our PHENOLEXA project partner, Loughborough University. In a recent publication in the Royal Society of Chemistry, the research team by Yi Du et al., unveiled an innovative method for enhancing the therapeutic potential of polyphenols.
The study focuses on prenylated polyphenols. Despite their remarkable properties, the scarcity of these derivatives has limited their wider application. This groundbreaking work introduces a simple, one-step catalytic process for incorporating terpene fragments into the aromatic rings of widely available natural stilbenoids and flavonoids, significantly enhancing their therapeutic potential.
